Sony kicked off 2026 with a State of Play showcase that ran just over an hour and delivered one of the most packed lineups in recent memory. The February 12 broadcast gave PlayStation fans updates on first-party projects, exciting new third-party reveals, and even surprise launches that set the tone for the year ahead.

Surprise Hits and Major Reveals

God of War: Sons of Sparta – Available Now (PS5)
Sony closed its show with a huge surprise: a brand-new God of War title released immediately after the broadcast. God of War: Sons of Sparta is a 2D action-platformer prequel exploring Kratos’ early life during his Spartan training with Deimos and you can play it on PS5 today.

God of War Trilogy Remake
In another major first-party announcement, Sony Santa Monica confirmed a full remake of the original God of War trilogy is in development. The project is early in production, but this is huge news for fans of the classic Greek-mythology era.

Big Franchise Follow-Ups

Kena: Scars of Kosmora
Ember Lab’s beloved action-adventure series returns with Kena: Scars of Kosmora, set for PS5 and PC later in 2026. The sequel expands Kena’s spirit-guide abilities and world offering deeper combat and exploration.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Konami brought the iconic vampire-slaying franchise back with a brand new Castlevania entry developed with Motion Twin and Evil Empire, celebrating the series’ 40th anniversary.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2
Also revealed was Metal Gear Solid Vol. 2, including Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and other classics finally coming to modern systems. That’s right, the notorious MGS4 which is a pain to emulate, is finally making it’s way to the PS5 and PC with remastered visuals, and high-refresh rate support.

The showcase wasn’t just about established franchises there were plenty of new experiences on display:

  • 007 First Light – A James Bond origin story/game debuting with a fresh trailer.
  • 4:Loop – A four-player co-op shooter with fast-paced, endlessly replayable action.
  • Beast of Reincarnation – A sci-fi action RPG about survival and partnership.
  • Brigandine Abyss – A strategic fantasy RPG returning to its roots.
  • Control Resonant – Remedy’s next supernatural adventure in Manhattan.
  • Crimson Moon – Co-op action RPG with persistent world challenges.
  • Dead or Alive 6 Last Round & Teaser for DOA7 – Free-to-play version and a new instalment teased.
  • Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls – A new superhero brawler with X-Men like Wolverine and Magik confirmed.
